Saint-Seurin-de-Cursac is a small village just 5 km from Blaye. It is located on the prehistoric site at the foot of La Garde de la Garde and Sauveclare. But it is not the only piece of history linked to the commune since the nephew of Charlemagne, Roland de Roncesvalles, from Saint-Seurin, launched his spear in the river, the Gironde, in 775. He then went on expedition and formed the rear guard of Charlemagne's army before dying in Roncesvalles. The high wines in this village are the first rib-de-blaye appellation.
