Lazily stretched along the Jaur, with its Romanesque church and 17th century bridge, Riols is considered one of the largest communes in France. It includes seventeen hamlets that each have that little touch that makes them so endearing. The Riols sector, particularly that of Trédos, indicates a very ancient human occupation, especially with the presence of tumulus. Riols and the hamlet of Euzèdes have also revealed a significant number of caves that would have been inhabited by the Saint-Ponian civilization (between 3,600 and 2,300 B.C.). For the brave cyclists, go up to the Cabarétou pass by the small road that winds around the back of the village, you won't regret your efforts.
