Things to see and do Palavas-Les-Flots

On an island, an 18th century military fort houses the Albert-Dubout Museum. The Ballestras Redoubt was dismantled stone by stone and reassembled in the centre of the pond. The museum contains the works of the famous draftsman and his particularly colourful caricatures. Attracted by Palavas as early as 1922, Albert Dubout had the gift of making the comic come out of any thing or situation. In addition to the drawings, the exhibition presents Dubout's personal objects (drawing table, pipe, correspondence with Pagnol and Dard...).

Decorated in the pure Albert Dubout style, this little train guarantees you a relaxed ride! You have to do it at least once to discover the charms of Palavas in a different way, while savouring a moment of relaxation to the sound of the guide's explanations. On its walls painted in bright colours, the cartoonist's fetish characters come to life. Sometimes, the route is just as he wants it to be, even if it means neglecting the tracks, but it is also this audacity that seduces.

Only a few kilometres from Montpellier, the seaside resort of Palavas-les-Flots is a must on the coast. Very lively in summer, the village organizes many festivities specific to the region and its history, the arenas serve as a backdrop for some of them. The Car and Train Museum was inaugurated in the summer of 2019. The establishment is built around the Petit train de Palavas, a famous means of locomotion that brought the Montpellier bourgeoisie from the city to the sea until the end of the 1960s. The museum allows you to contemplate one of the authentic locomotives of the time and to discover the history of the coast. Just a few metres from the train, visitors will be able to admire an impressive collection of scale models. Nearly 5,000 vehicles of great renown are presented in 45 showcases.
