Bordered by 7 km of fine sandy beach on one side, by wild ponds on the other, Palavas-Les-Flots draws its history and identity from the men who gave it its raison d'être: the fishermen. Classified as a seaside resort in 1924, Palavas adapted to the paid holiday clientele and then to mass tourism in the early 1950s. In 1997, the town created a new marina to facilitate maritime tourism, a booming sector. The town entered the 3rd millennium with the creation of the Lighthouse of the Mediterranean, resulting from the rehabilitation of the old water tower. Unique in France, it offers an exceptional panorama of the region.
