The small commune of Mudaison is located in the heart of the Pays de l'Or urban area, halfway between the green Cévennes and the Grande Bleue. Neighbouring Montpellier, the city benefits from an advantageous location and a rich and varied nature. This wealth is not new, nor is its exploitation. Recent archaeological excavations have shown the presence of human activity in the region during the Neolithic period. Evidence was uncovered during work on the TGV line just under ten years ago. During this work, the workers came across a network of deep ditches, possibly for defensive use around the village. At the time, people lived from agriculture and animal husbandry, and buildings linked to these activities, as well as stone wall elements and tools, were discovered in the excavations. Elements from later eras have also been found, including remains from Antiquity and the Middle Ages.
