Focus on the spring-summer season and the south of France, especially in Montpellier. Known for its incredible quality of life, in a region that enjoys particularly rich sunshine, the city emphasizes many events on sunny days. Whether you are sporty, greedy or more interested in culture, everyone has something to look forward to, in a city that is also renowned for its warm welcome. Now is the time for the blue sky, the sun and the must-see events of this 2019 season, to definitively convince you to plan a getaway to the capital of the Hérault

At the heart of the main cultural and musical events

The sunny days make you want to walk around, walk the streets and observe the architecture. To take the time to stroll through an art gallery and then in the evening after enjoying a drink on the terrace, to take the direction of a musical event to dance and exalt yourself until late at night. The upcoming events in Montpellier are numerous and the least we can say is that they have something to please a wide audience. At the end of June, MOCO, the new art centre, will open, giving contemporary art enthusiasts the opportunity to discover public and private collections from all over the world at MOCO itself, but also in two other key locations in the city: the Panacea and the École Supérieure des Beaux-Arts. To accompany the event, we will not fail to take advantage of the major exhibition called "100 artists in the city". The works will be to be contemplated in places of everyday life, cafés, shops, public spaces... June will be definitively contemporary since from 11 to 16, the Festival des Architectures Vives will also allow us to examine contemporary works this time in the private mansions of the Crest. Let's make a small leap forward to meet again in May, at the Pavillon Populaire to enjoy the Boutographies, the photographic encounters in Montpellier where we can see among others the works of Marja Sterck and Martha Frieda Friedel. Back in June with the burlesque theatre and musicals shows of the Printemps des Comédiens and if you like listening to music, singing and dancing, two events will mark the month of July: the Radio France and Tohu-bohu festivals, the latter being dedicated to electro music takes place in the heart of Montpellier, in front of the town hall

Join the stands of major sporting events

Sometimes we still have our heads in the stars in July 2018 with the victory of the French men's football team at the Russian World Cup. This year, it is the women's team that will try its luck and the women's football world cup will take place... in France from June! In Montpellier, the French team will not initially play, but the Mosson stadium will host four first round matches and an eighth round match with prestigious and highly ranked teams such as Germany, Canada and Brazil. This year again, we will also have the opportunity to vibrate during the FISE. The International Festival of Extreme Sports joins the banks of the Lez River in Port Marianne and you can see amazing practices such as Freestyle Scooter, Wakeboard or BMX Street. BMX, which includes two world competitions, in Freestyle and Flatland. This event, which attracts around 600,000 spectators, is also a friendly event renowned for its nightlife. Wanting a little more grace and lightness, we then take the direction of the Montpellier Danse festival, which will take place from June 22nd to July 6th. An event open to lovers of contemporary dance as well as lovers of dances from all over the world and more classical movements. Sporting from beginning to end, the Montpellier summer will end with a major event that will also pass through the capital of the Hérault. This is the European Volleyball Cup, which will see France perform in Montpellier in the South of France Arena from the first rounds, particularly from 12 to 18 September

A summer marked by beautiful gourmet breaks

Who said that summer was the season when we had to eat less? The spring and summer seasons are also an invitation to indulge in delicacies and discover new flavours. We walk around, we take the time to do nothing, but we also need strength to enjoy the many activities offered by the city of Montpellier. And if you want to regain your strength, you might as well enjoy the best specialities of the region. For example, you can start your day with a quick tour of the market. We go through Halles Castellane or Halles Laissac to enjoy the smell of fruit, vegetables, hot bread and rosemary. Later in the day, you can reach the Lez market, located in former agricultural and industrial premises. It is the perfect place to enjoy an exhibition, then browse a flea market before taking a salty, sweet break or both in the gourmet halls. The producers present, the food trucks and the restaurants welcome you and offer you the best. It is also necessary to take advantage of a visit to the city to discover local specialities, with an emphasis on Mediterranean flavours, of course. In the city centre, many shops allow you to stock up on tapenades, grayscales, honey and local wines. And what about the restaurants, the offer is considerable and the 2019 summer season is marked by the reopening of the inevitable Jardin des Sens. To get there, you will have to reach the old Montpellier Town Hall, Place de la Canourgue. Finally, for those who wish to admire the Arbre Blanc, a living symbol of contemporary Montpellier, a building located on the border of the old town and the new districts, note the opening of the new brasserie of the excellent chefs Charles Fontes and Éric Cellier. If the brewery will occupy the ground floor and the first floor, it is expected that a tapas bar will be located on the 17th floor of the structure with a splendid view of the city, the region and the Big Blue.
