Leaning against the hill of Montfo, Magalas has been inhabited since the 6th century BC. During the barbarian invasions, around the year one thousand, a castle was built on a stony hill called Magal (pile of stones), it is at the origin of Magalas. The visitor sensitive to the charm of the old stones will be seduced by the old low houses, the narrow streets and its shady squares. The heart of the village houses the portal and the nave of the Romanesque chapel of 1271, a parish church dedicated to Saint-Laurent. Indissociable from the vine, Magalas is nestled at the crossroads of four appellations: faugères, saint-chinian, coteaux-du-languedoc and vins de pays d'oc.
