North of the Thau lagoon, Loupian is a wine-producing village which is organized around its first medieval castle. The name of Loupian is of ancient origin and now reminds the villagers of the legend of the wolf. Rich of two millennia of history, this village has an impressive archeological heritage with, in particular, a fortified gate of the XIVth century, a seigniorial castle, the Saint-Hippolyte chapel, the paleochristian church and the Loupian villa - which crosses the via Domitia - today transformed into a museum. Within the village, one can also admire typical local winegrowers' houses and Renaissance-style facades.
