A village straight out of the Middle Ages, planted on a site inhabited since prehistoric times, the village is surrounded by ramparts that remind us of its past as a Protestant stronghold, at its feet, the capricious Lirou sometimes overflows into memorable floods. The old village is entered through a gate pierced into the ramparts, which are well preserved in some places. Paved streets and vaulted passages lead from the lower part of the village, from the 14th and 15th centuries, to the upper part, which dates back to the 13th century when the houses were built, high and narrow, directly dry on the rock and built on one or more vaults.
