Sitting at the foot of Roc Castel, a curious hill spiked with dolomitic rocks, Le Caylar is a magical place. The ruins of the ancient village can still be seen at the top of the hill. Its historical and botanical trails are dotted with panels recounting the history of the site, where Romans and Visigoths, lords and bishops, have succeeded one another in fortifying the summit. Don't miss the Chapelle Notre Dame, the church of Saint-Martin and the carved tree... Once you've reached the summit of Roc Castel, the view is incomparable, with the Larzac plateau in full view, and on a clear day, you can even see the Pyrenees.
