Formerly served by the passage of a Roman road linking Nîmes to Lodève, this commune has a multitude of Gallo-Roman vestiges. One of the most important dates back to the 1st century AD and was discovered in 1967. It consisted of two large basins linked to buildings. Important archaeological material has been unearthed, including more than 400 vessels. Some of these objects can be seen in the museum of Lodève, a few kilometres away. However, the archaeological wealth of the city does not stop there. Indeed, vestiges of medieval fortifications are also visible: the wall, two towers and a gate from the 12th centurye century.
