Bordered by the basaltic flow of the Baumes volcano and its famous "black rock", Caux rises in the heart of the vineyards and preserves an impressive heritage from the Romanesque and Gothic eras. From its medieval period, the village has notably kept elements of a 10th century circulade around its bell-tower-porch (surrounding gates, basalt ramparts...). It offers a real plunge into History. Within the village walls, visitors will have the chance to discover sublime buildings, such as the church of Saint-Gervais and Saint-Protais, the former chapel of the Pénitents and many winegrowers' houses which bear witness to the importance of agricultural activity in the region.
