Saint-Palais, founded in the 13th century, is situated on a rocky promontory overlooking the Bidouze river, about 60 km from Bayonne and 40 km from Spain. You can admire the bas-reliefs on the facade of the Erdoy-Oyhenart noble house dating back to the 16th century, the king's house, a former palace and prison from the 17th and 18th centuries... The workshop of the Mint, founded in 1351 and which minted its own money until 1672, is a mark of the city's power. We recommend a visit to the Museum of Saint-Palais, its churches or the Chemins-Bideak space installed in the former Franciscan convent.
