Libraries Nîmes

Located in a hospital centre, in the heart of a médicalisée residence for the elderly, this library was designed in partnership with the CHU de Nîmes. It has a fund of books, in particular on the theme of health, practical life, ageing and intergenerational life. For resident patients, it also welcomes local residents. Occasionally, animations are proposed: storytelling, exhibitions, meetings with writers.

Located in the Pissevin district, Nîmes-West, this library is named after the Nîmois writer Marc Bernard. He received the Prix Goncourt in 1942 for his novel Tel to children. The two floors are home to the library and a resource centre on literature for youth, mainly for teachers and educators. Very popular with young people in the Pissevin-Valdegour district, the library gathers books, audio cds, including a very good collection of contemporary music, music dvds, documentaries, fiction and youth films. The minothèque is reserved for children from 6 months (!), a training space, a projection room, a digital public space with computer accompaniments, multimedia, job search.

In the east of Nîmes, the district of Mas-de-Mingue has its library named as the author, originally from the region and director of the New French Revue in the 1940 s. In the centre of the district house, the library covers 200 m ² and has a good book of books, cd, DVD and documents for adults and youth, as well as a specific collection for language learning. There are also periodicals and videos to watch on site or to borrow. In digital space, Internet and CD-Rom consultation, opening to office automation, ludo activities (time of tale), accompaniment to employment. Welcome classes by appointment.

The Carré d'Art Library in Nîmes is a public library located on the Place de la Maison Carrée. It offers a wide selection of books, magazines, CDs and DVDs for all ages and tastes. The library also has a digital space, a video game room for children aged 8 to 13, and a teen space. The library also offers regular events such as story times and reading committees. School groups, associations and adults can also enjoy visits and activities by appointment. For lovers of contemporary art, the library is also home to the Musée d'Art Contemporain Carré d'Art.
