Les Angles is located on a plateau overlooking the Rhone, opposite Avignon. The site has been inhabited since prehistoric times, then by the Romans on the 1st. The inhabitants have long known the traditional life of a humble community of farmers and fishermen where the Rhône played a considerable role. At the beginning of the 20th century, this town is linked to the history of Félibrige: Frédéric Mistral and his friends used to gather at the Auberge du Chêne Vert. In the old village is the church of Notre-Dame-de-l'Assomption in primitive Gothic style (15th century) with its square tower above the presbytery, built on the site of a former Saracen fort
