The commune is inseparable from its mining past. It emerges like a mushroom in 1846 by the effects of the industrial revolution; it is here that the history of the coalfield begins to finally stop at the end of the 1970s. The commune was indeed one of the cradles of coal mining in the Cévennes. The commune thus remains marked by its past and also by its geography, whose physiognomy is contained in the name. La Grand-Combe is perched at the entrance to the Cévennes, on the road to Mont-Lozère and walks in pure and wild nature. Nature reveals itself, offering breathtaking landscapes to discover.
