Fourques owes its name to its geographical situation, between the Grand and Petit Rhône, which forms the delta of the Camargue and therefore a fork in the road. The fixed bridge dates from 1808 because previously one had to cross the Petit Rhône with the help of a ferry. Many sites are to be discovered such as the church and its furniture classified in the inventory of the Historic Monuments, the Rhônomètre, column witnessing the rise of the waters, or the Pomérium, place declared sacred by Romulus. The city is also the scene of numerous events throughout the year: the Votive Festival, the Maïo Festival, the Puppet Festival, the Horse Fair, and the Artists' Biennial
