A very small village, Saint-Germain-de-la-Rivière is located in the Dordogne valley and on the slopes. The Musée des Eysies, in the Dordogne, houses a Magdalenian tomb, witnessing the first representatives of humanity found on the territory of Saint-Germain: "La Dame de Saint-Germain". In Romanesque style, the village church is dated from the 13th century and the cross of the cemetery, which is classified as a historical monument, is dated from the 16th century. The many underground quarries also bear witness to the former stone extraction activity in Saint-Germain.
