Château Pipeau is a red wine of Saint-Emilion Grand Cru appellation. The 25-hectare vineyard has been run by the same family since 1929. The four generations that have succeeded each other have transmitted a know-how that makes this wine unique. Today, it is Richard, Brigitte and Jean - lovers of the terroir - who run the wine estate. The family also owns Château Joinin. A favorite of our oenologists during the blind tasting! A funny name, but a great wine, for sure.

Formerly owned by the Prince Noir, the estate underwent a facelift in 2010, when the cellars were rebuilt. This Grand Cru Classé is owned by the Boidron family, who began making wine in 1760, following the rhythm of nature. No herbicides are used here, the grapes are harvested by hand. Only batches of perfect quality are bottled at the Château. The wine is kept in an underground cellar. The awards and medals won are the result of this quality of work. The Boidron family is at the cutting edge of new technologies: a visit is a must!

In collaboration with Patrick Fouquet, master jam maker world champion 2018, Janick Paytra launches in his turn in the making of artisanal jams. He participates for the first time in 2019 in the Confituriades and obtains the gold medal of the Order of Master Jammakers. Janick prepares his jams in his workshop/shop and sources as much as possible in short circuit: mirabelle plums from his village, strawberries from Dordogne, apricots from Roussillon, kiwis from Lot-et-Garonne... A nice souvenir to bring back from Saint-Emilion, to change the wine!

Jérôme Dohet produces a delicious nectar on a 1.3-ha vineyard. Here grape harvest is manual and in small crates. The bunches of grapes have previously been deleafed and selected, arranged and thinned after months of ripening. Do not miss the authentic 1904 press. Small originality: The owner will make you taste his wine in the cellar, where wonderful sculptures keep the barrels. White plaster busts of 1863, and animal representations produced by a friend of the family who comes from Australia. Kangaroo, elephant, bull, cockerel, wild boar, and crocodile will keep you company during tasting.

By visiting the cellars, you can discover that everything here is done by hand, from grape harvests to the sorting. The 15 hectares of vineyards are treated without insecticides, vine population is from 65% merlot and 35% franc cabernet. The stainless vats mix with the older vats made of cement and wood. 80,000 bottles are produced here every year. Their cellar, sober and classy, beautifully enhance their wines.
