The village attracts many curious visitors, fascinated by the legend of a buried treasure. The myth stems from an article in a dispatch in the 60s. It told the story of Bérenger Saunière, who was sent to Rennes-le-Château as a priest in 1885 and, until his death in 1917, spent colossal sums restoring the church of Sainte-Marie-Madeleine, building a presbytery, gardens and the villa Béthanie estate... Had he found a treasure? The village, fortified in the medieval period, has preserved vestiges and a château, some of whose walls date back to the 13th century, the rest of the buildings dating from the 16th and 17th centuries.
