Saint-Ciers-sur-Gironde is 70 km north of Bordeaux. This commune only took its current name in 1902. It was then called Saint-Ciers-la-Lande. Very marshy, the area was drained in the 18th century by the Duke of Saint-Simon. Not very dynamic since the First World War, it was the installation of the Blayais Nuclear Power Plant in 1976 that allowed the commune to rebound economically and demographically. Among the heritage of Saint-Ciers, we find the charming port of Callonges, as well as the museum of Old Trades.
