The medieval village was founded in the 11th century on the grounds of the Trencavel house in the height of the Cathar period, but it was in the year 1350 that the ramparts and fortifications were completed. The name of the village would come from one of the three streams that cross it, the Chalabreil. The second is the Blau, which you have to follow to enjoy the most beautiful and oldest houses of the village, and finally the Hers. The "Halle aux grains", in the heart of the old village, is also worth a visit, as many markets are organized there. History and architecture enthusiasts can visit the castle and enjoy its many activities.
