Founded like a jewel case around its Benedictine abbey, and surrounded by the remains of its fortified walls, Caunes-Minervois boasts a diverse architectural heritage. The old streets will reveal Renaissance-style townhouses, a small square with two 300-year-old plane trees, remarkable facades and numerous art workshops. As the birthplace of the famous red marble, an eco-museum traces its history, and trails lead you to the quarries, from "la petite griotte" to "l'incarnat". Added to their rich program of events is the Caunes en Personnes festival, which spotlights local artists.
