Cathedral of Saint-Michel, of Gothic Languedoc style, with a very sober facade with a superb rose window of 8 m in diameter.
Built in the 13th century, in the Languedoc Gothic style, Saint-Michel's cathedral witnessed the invasion of the Black Prince in 1355, and was partially destroyed after the violent fire of 1849. From its square, you can notice its very sober facade, enhanced by a superb rose window of 8 m in diameter. The stained glass windows, restored shortly after the fire by Alfred Gérente, illuminate the nave with geometric and anachronistic motifs. The architect Viollet-le-Duc finished the restoration work in the 19th century and signed here his first vast building site in the city.
