Bram takes its name from the Roman settlement of Eburomagus, on the ancient Via d'Aquitaine. In late Antiquity, a church dedicated to Saint-Julien and Sainte-Basilice appeared here. Later, around the year 1000, this place of worship established a village settlement in a circular enclosure. During the Middle Ages, the fortified village grew in concentric circles. The outer ring of houses dates from the 19th century, making Bram the largest circular village in the region. The story of the village's formation is told in Bram's archaeological museum, dedicated to the rural habitat of northwestern Aude between prehistory and the Middle Ages.
