In the foothills of the Aude Pyrenees, the Sault region - from the Latin saltus (forest) - is a vast plateau at an altitude of 1,000 metres, bordered by immense fir forests and home to a thousand and one pastures, as its inhabitants like to say, it is "a country on a plateau". The view goes far. In Belcaire are the ruins of the old war castle, which was the seat of the royal administration of the country of Sault, in 1252. It is also a land of history and breathtaking landscapes... or more precisely to find it! For walks and hikes, the spring water lake, surrounded by mountains, is the ideal place!
