Toussus became Noble when Louis XIV incorporated it into his hunting park, part of the vast Domaine des Eaux de Versailles. But the village's fame took off with the beginnings of aviation: in 1910, the Farman brothers set up a flying school and an airfield. After the First World War, they set up a passenger transport company, which merged with three others in 1933 to form Air France. Today, the town's airport is dedicated to business tourism, with 90,000 aircraft movements and 7,000 helicopter movements per year. The town is also home to the Etablissement d'aéronautique navale de la Défense nationale.
