Park of walk impossible to circumvent having undoubtedly the most exceptional sight on Paris with a forest and a great terrace.

The park of the Château de Saint-Germain-en-Laye is a must-see place for walks and has without doubt the most exceptional view of Paris. The Grande Terrasse, the jewel in the crown of André Le Nôtre's creation at the château of Saint-Germain-en-Laye, is now a sublime walk in all seasons. It is 2,400 metres long and lined with two hundred-year-old lime trees, with the forest on one side and a magnificent view of western Paris on the other. The promenade extends to the forest. Le Nôtre also devised optical games starting from a slight slope up to about a third of the way along the path, marked by a half-moon, and beyond that a flat terrain: thus, starting from the Belvedere, one has the impression that the half-moon is located in the middle of the path, and yet, as the path progresses, one struggles to reach it; it is only when one arrives at the octagon, by turning around on the path, that one immediately grasps the full distance travelled. The French and English gardens are also superb. At the foot of the Terrace, nearly 2,000 vines have been planted over the last eight years, allowing the towns of Le Pecq and Saint-Germain-en-Laye to revive their wine-growing tradition. To take full advantage of a breathtaking view of the estate and the Seine valley, you can also take a guided tour of the castle's roofs. Many concerts and events are organised in this park, ask about them during your visit. One of the most beautiful walks in Ile-de-France!
