The origins of the commune seem to go back a long way. Not only do 13th-century documents attest to its existence, but 6th-century sarcophagi have been discovered in the town square. A statue of Charlemagne is said to have stood in the former church, which no longer exists. In the 17th century, the Flemish began draining the Queyrac marshes. Until then, the atmosphere of these marshy lands was pestilential, and the inhabitants suffered from a widespread disease in the region, "médoquine", probably a type of malaria. The Médoc commune is located in the heart of the vineyards. Queyrac has a population of 1,375.
