The Pomerol appellation is world-renowned. And it's here, on the lands of Pomerol (from the Latin pomum, "seeded fruit") that Château Pétrus, the most expensive wine in the world, is produced! A former commandery of Saint-Jean-de-Jérusalem, the village was an important stopover on the way to Santiago de Compostela. The founding act of the commandery was the donation of the land of Barbanne by Seigneur Guillaume de Ségur and his brothers. Worth seeing: the Romanesque church, partially demolished in the 19th century and rebuilt in 1899 by the architect Hosteing, the former presbytery, some fine residences, not forgetting the vineyards: enjoy your wine tasting!
