Follow the traces of the Gallo-Romans from the right bank to Plassac, charming shipowners village along the Estuary, where many of the remains testify to a rich past. From the rue du Chardonnet you can admire the Estuary and the listed site of the famous ancient villa of Plassac. The so-called ruins of the Villa Gallo-Roman are in fact concerned with three successive constructions, occupied in the years 20-40 after Jesus Christ until the course of the life of the century, and whose foundations or walls are now only left. The 1 st villa was clearly inspired by the great Italian maritime villas. Archeologists believe that it extends throughout the current territory of the commune. The 2 nd construction is established at the very beginning of the iie century. It had an even more prestigious architecture inspired by the Imperial Palace Palace, with nearly 6,000 m 2 of courses, galleries, gardens and enclosed spaces. The 3 rd villa, rebuilt between the end of the fourth century and the very beginning of the fifth century, testifies to a tightening of space, with a residential part that seems to focus on the eastern part, where a small thermal set and rooms with mosaics are installed. Here, too, you will be able, in the museum adjacent to the site, to observe in particular the wall paintings of the first villa and back the time thanks to the virtual visit in 3 D of the restitution of the second villa. The village of Plassac is full of treasures that only need to be discovered…
