The origins of Presles are very old since its territory was occupied since prehistoric times. It has indeed yielded several Neolithic burials. But the first written mention of the village dates back to 862. In the Middle Ages, it became a seigneury and a possession of the Presles family. Then, in the 16th century, it passed to the Baillet family, then to the Turmenyes family before returning to the Prince of Conti. During the Revolution, Presles became a commune and most of the castles were rebuilt in the 19th century. Presles once had several mills that have disappeared, but the village still retains a rural charm that gives it a lot of cachet
