Situated on a plateau overlooking the meandering Oise River, Cergy has undergone incredible change since the 1960s, with its population increasing 30-fold due to the construction of the new town. The town is divided into five major districts designed in the 1970s (l'Orée du Bois, le Grand Centre and les Coteaux), 1980s (Axe Majeur-Horloge) and 1990s (Hauts-de-Cergy). Port-Cergy and the leisure park complete the picture, reminding us of the predominance of green spaces in the commune. Last but not least, Cergy has preserved its old village, with its attractive heritage. All in all, it's a city with many faces, and one that's well worth discovering.
