The configuration of the commune is original since it occupies a meander of the Marne, between steep slopes in the north and gently sloping banks in the south. Neolithic men already lived on this site. For a long time, the vine covered the slopes of Champigny where a wine called piccolo was produced. It was particularly appreciated in the guinguettes of this city, some of which still exist and perpetuate a tradition strongly rooted in the collective imagination. Today, Champigny-sur-Marne has more than 77,000 inhabitants, a figure that has been rising since the late 1990s, and has an excellent transport network.
