The occupation of Alfortville, formerly attached to Maisons-Alfort, goes back to prehistoric times. In the 10th century, a town developed on its territory, but its marshy environment did not begin to be invested until the 19th century. Like Paris and its neighboring towns, it underwent an unprecedented evolution in this period. Railroads and train stations changed the landscape and the way of life of the inhabitants. In 1849, the Paris-Lyon-Marseille line separated Maisons-Alfort from Alfort-ville, which led in 1885 to the creation of the latter as a full-fledged commune. A recent city with a modern heritage and home to the famous Chinagora complex of 1992!
