The city of Noisy-le-Grand has a history that goes back to the Merovingian period, as evidenced by archaeological remains that have been discovered on site. It is also known that King Chilperic (grandson of Clovis and son of Clotaire I), had a pleasure house there. Noisy-le-Grand is a modern city of more than 66,000 inhabitants that has kept its roots, its traditions and its village spirit. At the beginning of the 20th century, the appearance of the tramway favored the installation of guinguettes along the Marne, as well as the presence of renowned artists such as the painter Pierre Bonnard or the actor Michel Simon. In the 1930s, many housing developments were built there, and the village of Noisy was transformed into a real town. Noisy-le-Grand offers a wide variety of urban and natural landscapes between the banks of the Marne, gardens and wooded alleys, not to mention the vineyard of Clos Saint-Vincent. The city also boasts several monuments that bear witness to its ancient past: the 12th-13th century Saint-Sulpice church, classified as a historic monument, the Villiers fort built in 1878, the Clos Saint-Vincent vineyard and farm in the city center, the Merovingian cross in the old cemetery in the city center, etc. Noisy is served by public transportation, allowing you to reach the center of Paris in about 20 minutes by RER. It also has many contemporary social housing creations, such as the Abraxas spaces, which leave no one indifferent!
