In the Middle Ages, this village organized around its church Saint-Lucien, towards the current crossroads of the Six Roads, was developed thanks to the presence of a miraculous fountain. In the 12th century, the abbot Suger founded a manor house, at which time a wine industry developed. However, the name of the commune only dates back to the 13th century, from the Latin curia and nova (new domain). Until the 1850s, La Courneuve lived from agriculture, until chemical industries were established. Little by little, other activities followed and the agricultural lands left free were progressively built upon, especially in the 1960s.
