The first traces of human occupation in Villenoy date back to Antiquity, notably the remains of an aqueduct that supplied Meaux, whose infrastructures, thermal baths and fountains, required a constant supply of water. However, the commune is only mentioned in the 7th century, as a possession of the Maubeuge abbey founded by Saint Aldegonde. In the 18th century, Villenoy comprised four hamlets and vineyards. At the dawn of the 20th century, the creation of the Ourcq canal and the Paris-Strasbourg railroad transformed Villenoy, making it the leading industrial zone in the Meldois region.
