This commune, which merged with the villages of Saint-Georges and Parsac in 1973, is one of the key appellations in the Saint-Emilion region. To the north-west, the Calon windmills are a curiosity in the region. Grouped by five on a hill, these 15th-century windmills dominate the valley and bear witness to Montagne's cereal-growing past. Two of them have been completely restored by the producer of Château Calon, and climbing up one of the windmills, which is open to all winds, offers a beautiful view over the valley. Don't miss a visit to Saint-Martin de Montagne church, a beautiful 12th-century edifice adjacent to the wine house.
