The very name of this small Médoc village of 2,832 inhabitants is almost world-famous for its vineyards and châteaux. They make up the Wine Route and rank among the world's finest Grands Crus Classés. Yet, spread over 1,250 hectares, Margaux represents only 9% of the Médoc vineyards. The flagship of the appellation's wines is Château Margaux, premier grand cru classé in 1855. And let's not forget another natural treasure: the estuary, where the "carrelets" (small sandbars) outline their elegant silhouettes. Margaux is also a dream setting for sports enthusiasts: cycling loops, golf greens, horse-drawn carriages and more.
