This so small village has an international fame, thanks to its reputation that started in the Gallo-Roman period. A third of the great classified growths are gathered on this tongue of land representing only one tenth of the Médoc vineyards! These wines are characterised by their finesse, their fruity generosity and their beautiful aromatic persistence. The Cabernet Sauvignon is the majority in the blend with the Merlot. Malbec and Petit Verdot are very much in the minority, but are sometimes used as a precious addition. Flagship of the wines of this appellation: Château Margaux, first great classified growth in 1855.
