Marcillac is a small village located on the border of the department of Charente-Maritime. Very forested, it is covered with 1,200 hectares of woods. It has several interesting heritage features, such as old water mills, bread ovens, fountains, wash houses and calvaries. The church of Saint-Vincent is in Romanesque style and dates from the 12th century, it was rebuilt in the 18th century. Its portal is classified as a historical monument, as is the square and massive bell tower, which is believed to date from the 14th century.
