An imposing medieval city once situated on the border between the kingdom of France and the duchy of Burgundy, this Capetian fortress was annexed in 1068, and was a favorite of Louis VII and Philippe Auguste. The best view of the town is from the east, before crossing the old 12th-century bridge. At a single glance, you can take in the panorama of the Loing and its islets, the old tan mill, the Quai des laveuses, the superb Porte de Bourgogne and the ramparts. Moret-Loing-et-Orvanne also boasts some magnificent Roman and medieval monuments. Finally, visit the Musée du Vélo and the Musée du Sucre d'orge.
