Located just a few kilometers from the Château de Vaux-le-Vicomte and not far from Melun, this small village, known since Gallo-Roman times as Blandiacum, is well worth a visit for its beautiful fortified castle. In the Middle Ages, Blandy was a true farming village. Ploughing occupied the largest area of crops. In the 18th century, the barley produced was used to supply the breweries of Melun and Montereau. Many Blandynois made their living from farming and logging. There were, however, a few craftsmen and many shopkeepers. The village has preserved its medieval character and authentic alleyways.
