Bagneaux-sur-Loing has been inhabited since Neolithic times, but like many other communes, its existence was not officially attested until the Middle Ages. Its name is thought to come from the Latin balneoe (baths), or even from the patois bagnas , which used to refer to marshy areas. Crossed by the Loing canal, Bagneaux became a major glass production center from the 18th century onwards, a location that enabled the easy supply of raw materials and the flow of production. In addition to the banks of the Loing, the tour can include a visit to the Maison des Verriers, housed in the former Notre-Dame-des-Verriers church.
