The Abbé Pierre Foundation fights against poor housing. It works to ensure that all people with the least resources or who are totally destitute have a home. This was Abbé Pierre's priority when he launched his appeal for donations in the winter of 1954. Since then, the Foundation has provided significant financial support for the creation of "very social" housing and each year it issues a report on the state of inadequate housing in France. In 1949, Abbé Pierre also founded Emmaus, a secular movement against exclusion, present throughout the world.
