A superb park with themed gardens, apiary-school, fish auction and market hall, just ten minutes from Porte de Vanves in Paris.

Parc Georges-Brassens isn't easy to get to, as it's not well served by the metro, so we suggest you take the T3a tramway, which takes you just a few minutes away. Ten minutes from Porte de Vanves or rue de la Convention, it is named after the great Georges who lived in the area during his Parisian days, rue Santos-Dumont and impasse Florimont. It was in this little impasse that he stayed during the war with Jeanne, who inspired one of his most famous songs, La canne de Jeanne. Another of his songs, Lebistrot, was composed in honor of the Polish boxer Walzack's restaurant, located right next to the park. The site was covered with vines, then market gardens until 1894. At that time, a horse market and abattoirs were set up here. From this activity, which ceased in 1974, remain the fish auction, a building surmounted by a belfry, and a market hall where an interesting antique and second-hand book market is held every weekend. Created in the 1980s, the park (8.7 hectares) is crossed by a river with bridge and belvedere. It also features themed gardens: scents, aromatic and medicinal plants. A small vineyard - which produces a wine called Clos des Morillons - and an apiary-school are also among the attractions of this pretty park. If your discovery of the capital takes you to this relatively remote part of the arrondissement, don't hesitate to stop here.
