In the Middle Ages, fields and vineyards belonging to the abbey of Saint-Denis were located here. The town was born in 1866 from the union of the housing estates developed by two businessmen, Nicolas-Eugène Levallois - who drew the plans for the new town - and Jean-Jacques Perret. Levallois-Perret was divided between residential buildings and various workshops, including those of Gustave Eiffel, where the elements that made up his famous tower were manufactured, and those of Louis Blériot, the aviation pioneer. The car manufacturer Citroën set up a factory here. At the end of the 20th century, the city turned to tertiary activities
