A former Crown estate before becoming the property of the Cathedral of Orleans in the 1759 th century, Fontaine-la-Rivière was a seigneury of the chapter of St. Croix d'Orléans in. At the architectural level, there are vestiges of the church Saint-Etienne destroyed in 1815. Today, it is a tiny rural municipality of about 200 inhabitants, probably one of the smallest in the region.
