City Hall with the characteristics of Renaissance buildings, with ornate windows and turrets giving rhythm to the building
First, Royale became a municipality in the th century, when Louis XII granted the inhabitants the right to elect a mayor and four mayors to administer the commune. Its city hall presents all the features of Renaissance constructions. The richly decorated windows are divided into a crosspieces and windows, while small turrets, so called poivrières, rhythm the building. A garde and a grenier were then attached to the building at the time Brands was the seat of a gabelle constituency (salt tax). It was on these ruins that the architect Magne built a wing of neo-Renaissance style in the th century. It extends on the right the old part of the building.
